HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Safana Local Government was created in September 27 th 1987, as a result of creating Local Government, the Education Authority was created under Safana Local Government. During the Chairmanship of Alhaji Nasiru Atiku Maidabino the Local Government Education Authority was built. Also during the tenure of Alhaji Garba Salmu, Yantumaki as Education Secretary, four zonal offices were created thus: Dan-musa. Maidabino and Yantumaki as Area Educational Zonal offices.

As a result of creation of Dan-musa Local Governmenti in the year 1996, new education offoffices were created which include; Safana, Runka, Babban Duhu and Zakka. Hajiya Halima Barau S was aponted as education secretary, under the chairmanship of Alh. Yahuza Muhammad Gona

During her tenure many building were constructed. She was the first female Education Secretary in Katsina state fro 1996 to 2001.

From there Alh. Yusuf M. Abdullahi took over under the chairmanship of Alh. Ahmed Dayyabu Safana, during his Tenure many schools were created and constructed of additional classrooms, he created an allowance to area Education officers and Headmasters. The schools were categorized as senior, intermediate and Juniors with an allowance of N1,500, N1,000 and N5,00 respectively. And it is during his Tenure the LGEA secretariat was rehabilitated by the Local government Council Chairman. The education secretary initiated the purchase of cushion to all H.O.Ds offices and that of the Education Secretary’s office.

11. A committee has been constituted by the LGEA council chairman to take the responsibility of organizing and conducting annual Qur’anic recitation competition from 1999 to 2006.

CONSTRUCTION OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION TOWARDS DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATION IN THE LGEA

1. ETF Built block of two classrooms with Headmasters offices in the year 2001 at Safana Model Primary School

2. PTA Safana Primary School built one block of two classrooms and office in the year 2001.

3. OBASAT Donated various working materials to safana Primary School in 2005.

4. SAFDA give extra lessons to class six and general renovation in the year 1999.

5. Safana Community Development constructed one block of two classroom with Headmasters offices in 2002.

6. PTA Zakka Model Primary School through self-help completed one block of two classrooms, store and office in 2002.

7. PTA Baure Primary School donated money to community secondary school and two assisted in building new toilets through self –help project.

8. The district Head of Zakka assisted in building of one block of two classrooms and store through self-help project.

9. Zakka Old Boys association donated working materials worth N30,000.

10. ETF Katsina State donate furniture, mats, iron sheets, Textbooks to Primary Schools and Islamiyya across the LGA Primary School

11. PTA Babban Duhu Primary School constructed one block of two classrooms at B/Duhu Primary School with Headmasters office.

12. PTA Gora Primary School constructed one block of two classrooms at Gora Primary School with Headmasters office.

13. PTA Runka Model Primary School constructed one block of two classrooms at Runka Primary School with Headmasters office.

14. Village Head of B/Duhu gave assistance in completion of self-help pproject of one block at B/duhu Primary School initiated by the community.

15. Runka community development association constructed (4) four toilets.

 

INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS

1. Alh. Ishiya Rufai donated furniture to headmasters and teachers of Dallaje Pilot Primary School and writing materials.

2. Alh. Tukur gave financial assistance to Safana Model Primary School worth N20,000

3. Alh. Idros Mamman gave financial assistance to Dannagaiya Primary School worth N15,000

4. Alh. Usman Barau donated Texbooks to Safana Model Primary School in the year 1999

5. Alh. Sama’ila Aliyu Safana donated writing materials to Safana Model Primary School worth N20,000.00K
